  • Salary Range $58K-$64k (1.0 EFT) + salary packaging + super + 5 weeks annual leave (pro-rata)

 

The Department of Cancer Imaging at Peter Mac is seeking a full-time permanent (or part time can be considered) Ward Clerk staff to join our team. We are currently seeking a friendly, reliable, and motivated medical administrator to join our team in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Warmly greet and check in patients upon arrival
  • Manage enquiries in person, over the phone, via email, and fax
  • Assist with booking, rescheduling, and confirming appointments
  • Support the distribution of reports and respond to billing enquiries 
  • Perform general administrative and ad hoc duties as required by Manager

 

Skills and Experience Required 

  • Strong customer service with a focus on patient centered care
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • The ability to multi-task and work cohesively in a team environment
  • Previous administration experience in a Radiology practice and with our information system carestream and Karisma would advantageous.

Remuneration as per Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2025. HS Grade 1 Year 1 (HS1) $58,442.80 per annum (full-time equivalent - to be prorated for part-time) to HS Grade 1 Year 5 (HS17) $64,610.00 per annum (full-time equivalent - to be prorated for part-time) dependent on candidate experience. To be discussed with Hiring Manager.

Position Summary

The 5B Ward Clerk is an integral member of the Cancer Imaging team provide clerical and administrative support service for outpatients and inpatients attending 5B for clinical care, under the direction of the CI NUM and senior nursing staff. The Ward Clerk is responsible for the coordination of communication, patient services and clerical functions within Cancer Imaging and is the first point of contact for patients, visitors and multidisciplinary staff. The Ward Clerk facilitates excellent customer service and is central to the efficient and effective running of the unit environment. The role is pivotal in liaising with other departments and clinical research teams to assist the efficient and timely coordination of patient care and administration. The role also provides administrative support to the Nurse Unit Manager.

Essential Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the use of databases
  • Experience using patient administration systems, in particular iPM and EPIC.
  • Previous health service administration experience.
  • Experience and/or technical training in an administration setting.
  • Strong customer service skills, able to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients and staff.
Desirable Requirements
  • Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
