Fixed Term Part Time Role. 

 

The Department of Cancer Imaging is seeking the services of a qualified Sonographer .
The role is part time 32 hours per fortnight, fixed term for a duration of 12 months parental leave cover. This is 2 day per week position.

 

Cancer Imaging offers comprehensive imaging services at Parkville and East Melbourne.  Services include Digital X-Ray, Ultrasound, MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, PET and a dedicated interventional suite.

  • To co-lead the modality of expertise in the absence of the supervisor 
  • To assist in training if necessary

Essential Requirements  
  • Registration with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry 
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) if co-employed as a MIT 
  • Possession of a radiation use license if co-employed as MIT 
  • Responsible professional attitude and ability to demonstrate good rapport with both patients and staff members 
Desirable Requirements  
  • A willingness to educate students if applicable and staff if relevant

1. Perform successfully as a sonographer, and MIT if contractually specified

Correctly produced imaging as per department protocols
Liaison with Radiologists and modality lead in particular
Correct examination report sheet writing

2. Participate in the care, maintenance and quality assurance of the equipment in the imaging department

Quality control implementation for ultrasound equipment
Vigilance with the required high level disinfection of ultrasound transducers

3. Attend and contribute to regular staff meetings

Regular attendance at staff meetings
Input to discussion when requested or relevant

4. Keep abreast of new imaging procedures, techniques and technology

Documented participation in Continuing Professional Development activities

5. Observe all relevant hospital and department policies and procedures

Undertake programs and activities by People and Change and the Cancer Imaging department. Comply with Peter Mac and Cancer Imaging policies.

6. Perform any other duties as directed by the Chief MIT

Perform as an effective member of the Cancer Imaging team (to be assessed at annual performance review)
