YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE
Ongoing Part Time Role
There is an opportunity in the Social Work, Music Therapy, & Art Therapy team at Peter Mac to welcome a Grade 2 Social Worker on a part time (0.8 EFT - 60.8 hrs / fortnight), permanent basis. As a Grade 2 Social Worker, you will be supported to continue growing your career in both the inpatient and amublatory settings. You will receive regular supervision and additionally be supported to participate in seminars specifically designed to enhance your professional development, including education around and opportunities for supervision of Grade 1 social workers, and students. Grade 2 Social Workers work collaboratively as part of interdisciplinary teams to provide excellent, world-class cancer care through oncology- specific psychosocial assessments, clinical interventions, risk assessment and response, discharge planning, and community resource linkages. This role will also provide opportunities to be involved in research, quality improvement projects, and development of relationships with both internal and external stakeholders in the oncology field. Grade 2 Social Workers are supported by dedicated Grade 3 Senior Social Workers.
What You Will Need
A Bachelor's Degree or Qualifying Masters in Social Work. Post graduate studies are highly regarded and may be eligible for a higher education allowance.

Substantial postgraduate experience in a hospital or health care setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of the application of social work theory, practice frameworks and principles, in the context of the current health care environment
Highly developed interpersonal skills and relationships. These should incorporate qualities of excellent communication (verbal and written) and skills in collaboration, negotiation and conflict management
Demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary teams, at an advanced level
Well-developed individual, family work and crisis intervention and care planning skills
The ability to identify, plan and implement and evaluate new service strategies
Evidence of ongoing commitment to professional development
Established computer literacy skills
Experience in providing supervision to students and/or less experienced staff members.
Knowledge of, and ability to participate in quality improvement activities and develop strategies to market the work of the profession in the organisation, and beyond
Evidence of understanding of research/evaluation principles
