The Victorian Adolescent & Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Service is seeking an experienced Service Improvement Lead to drive initiatives aimed at elevating the quality, safety, and effectiveness of care provided to young people facing cancer.
The Service Improvement Lead will be responsible for identifying opportunities for service enhancement, leading strategic improvement projects, and ensuring a culture of continuous quality improvement within the AYA cancer care framework. This role demands a strategic thinker with a proven background in healthcare service development, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement, committed to delivering patient-centred outcomes.
Remuneration as per Heath and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021 - 2025. Grade 7 $122,106.40 (full-time equivalent) dependent on candidate experience. $96,399.79 (prorated for part time hours). To be discussed with Hiring Manager.

Position Summary
This position will be situated in the Victorian Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Service at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The Victorian Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Service works collaboratively with health service partners to improve the health outcomes for young people living with cancer.
This Service Improvement Lead position will work on initiatives that drive best practice care for young people with cancer. This position requires strong project management and implementation experience, mature communication skills and the ability to undertake clinical audits and data analyses. This position will be responsible for engaging health service staff across the sector.

1. Project Management | • Lead the development and implementation of improvement initiatives to promote optimal care of young people with cancer. • Identify systems improvements, procedural requirements, training and development needs as a part improvement initiatives/project. • Actively engage stakeholders to advise and participate in projects as appropriate, and ensure broad consultation and appropriate levels of stakeholder engagement. • Prepare and contribute to project documentation, including but not limited to project plans, committee meeting papers, risk register and reporting. • Monitor, review and evaluate the outcomes of improvement projects. • Lead evaluation activities, including medical record audits, to demonstrate practice change has been sustained and embedded as routine clinical practice; and to ensure health services are meeting optimal care targets and key performance indicators, both internal and set by the Commonwealth/Victorian Department of Health. • Actively ensure that the youth engagement is incorporated into all AYA service improvement activities |
2. Communication and interpersonal skills | • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external service providers, partners and stakeholders including young people -Identify key stakeholders, building and nurturing strong relationships. -Liaise with stakeholders at all levels, including the public, service providers, Government agencies and patients. -Develop, implement and maintain communications strategies that ensures a high level of awareness amongst stakeholders that facilitates information flow -Consult with subject matter experts and clinical leaders to ensure currency, relevance and feasibility of solutions. • Prepare key deliverables including reports for steering groups/committees as required, including documentation of project methodologies and outcomes for presentation to stakeholder groups as appropriate. Provide progress reports and updates to the Steering Committee, and DH as required. |
