Senior Test Analyst – HRIS Payroll Program 

 

  • 12-month fixed term, full time position (until July 2027)
  • 80 hours per fortnight with monthly ADOs
  • CBD location, with flexible, hybrid working
  • $145,000 to $165,000 base + salary packaging + super + 5 weeks annual leave

 

About the role

The purpose of this role is to support the Project Delivery testing function of the Peter Mac Rostering Project (UKG) to ensure quality project delivery outcomes through high-quality test analysis, test preparation, test execution, defect management and test evidence capture.

 

About you

You will have hands-on experience testing UKG / Kronos workforce management solutions, including rostering, timekeeping, employee data, configuration outcomes and operational workflows.

You'll bring with you:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or industry certification, or equivalent practical experience in software testing, workforce management, HR, payroll or enterprise systems.
  • Mandatory experience with awards, enterprise agreement or payroll rule testing, including ordinary time, overtime, allowances, penalties, breaks, leave, public holidays and exception handling.
  • Required experience using test tools such as JIRA, Zephyr, HP ALM or equivalent for test case management, execution tracking, evidence capture, defect management and reporting.

Position Summary

The purpose of this role is to support the Project Delivery testing function of the Peter Mac Rostering Project (UKG) to ensure quality project delivery outcomes through high-quality test analysis, test preparation, test execution, defect management and test evidence capture.

The objectives of this role are to:
•  Analyse business requirements, UKG configuration, awards rules and integration mappings to define clear test scenarios, test cases and expected outcomes.
•  Execute system testing, system integration testing, regression testing, end-to-end testing and UAT support testing across UKG rostering, timekeeping and related workforce management processes.
•  Validate awards, enterprise agreement and payroll-impacting scenarios in UKG, including ordinary time, overtime, allowances, penalties, breaks, leave, public holidays and exception handling.
•  Use JIRA, Zephyr, HP ALM or agreed test tools to maintain test cases, execution status, evidence, defects and traceability.
•  Work with the Senior Test Lead, Business Analysts, Payroll SMEs, P&C representatives, technical teams, integration teams and vendors to clarify requirements, triage defects and support test completion.
•  Identify risks, gaps and blockers early and provide clear updates to support project decision-making.

Essential Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or industry certification, or equivalent practical experience in software testing, workforce management, HR, payroll or enterprise systems.

  • Mandatory experience with awards, enterprise agreement or payroll rule testing, including ordinary time, overtime, allowances, penalties, breaks, leave, public holidays and exception handling.
  • Required experience using test tools such as JIRA, Zephyr, HP ALM or equivalent for test case management, execution tracking, evidence capture, defect management and reporting.
Desirable Requirements
  • ISTQB Foundation or equivalent testing certification is preferred.
  • Good-to-have experience supporting UKG integration testing, including inbound and outbound data flows, file/API validation, mapping, transformation, reconciliation and error handling.
  • Strong test analysis, test design, test execution, regression testing, retesting and defect management experience across system, integration and end-to-end testing phases.
  • Ability to translate business requirements, awards rules, UKG configuration and integration mappings into clear, traceable and executable test scenarios.
  • Ability to prepare test data, validate calculations, reconcile source and target outputs, and provide clear evidence for pass/fail decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to investigate defects, separate configuration issues from data or integration issues, and explain findings clearly.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work directly with business SMEs, technical teams, vendors and project stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and discipline in maintaining test artefacts, evidence, traceability and defect records.
  • Agile testing or advanced testing certification is beneficial but not mandatory

4. Test Analysis and Execution
  • Review business requirements, process designs, UKG configuration information, awards rules and integration mapping documents.
  • Prepare clear, traceable and executable test scenarios and test cases for UKG rostering, timekeeping and related workforce management processes.
  • Execute assigned system, regression, end-to-end and UAT support tests; capture accurate evidence; retest resolved defects and complete targeted regression testing.

  • Work cooperatively with business, technical and vendor teams while maintaining testing discipline and evidence-based decisions.
  • Tailor communication to the situation and needs of the team.
  • Escalate quality, scope, test data, environment or stakeholder blockers early through the Senior Test Lead or agreed project pathway.

  • Own assigned test activities and keep test records current, accurate and complete.
  • Raise clear, complete and reproducible defects with steps to reproduce, expected result, actual result, evidence, severity, priority and business impact.
