About the team
The Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Exercise Physiology department at Peter Mac provides specialised, patient-centred care to support the physical health and recovery of people affected by cancer. Within this department, the Peter Mac Pelvic Dysfunction Service delivers expert pelvic health physiotherapy to patients experiencing cancer-related pelvic floor concerns. The team works collaboratively to enhance function, comfort, and quality of life throughout all stages of treatment and survivorship.
About the role
As a Grade 3 Physiotherapist within the Pelvic Dysfunction Service you will lead and deliver high-quality physiotherapy care, administering safe, specialised pelvic floor physiotherapy treatment for acute and chronic conditions such as incontinence, prolapse, sexual dysfunction, vulval conditions and chronic pelvic pain, related to cancer and cancer treatments.
Key responsibilities will see you:
- Manage a complex cancer-related caseload using evidence-based treatments (approximately 70% clinical)
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams (including the pain team) to build connections and provide holistic, patient-centred care
- Contribute to strategic planning and ongoing service development
- Drive quality improvement initiatives to enhance care delivery
- Participate in research and apply evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead innovative physiotherapy services that support people affected by cancer, all within a dynamic, collaborative team and award-winning facilities! The role is every Friday (unfortunately non-negotiable) and alternate Wednesdays (there may be some flexibility here).
About you
You will be someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who is able to build strong, supportive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
You’ll bring with you:
- A tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy and current registration with AHPRA, with a postgraduate qualification in pelvic health (essential)
- A minimum of 7 years' clinical experience relevant to pelvic health physiotherapy
- Demonstrated leadership in clinical care, service innovation and research
- Strong ability to work independently in a specialised clinical area

Essential Requirements | Tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy (Bachelor, Masters or equivalent) Current AHPRA physiotherapy registration A minimum of 7 years clinical experience relevant to the position Ability to provide clinical supervision and staff support Ability to initiate research and / or projects Excellent communication skills, computer literacy, interpersonal and leadership skills Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education and professional development, particularly in oncology Demonstrated physiotherapy assessment and practical experience in a wide variety of acute conditions, preferably within cancer populations An enthusiasm for working in multi-disciplinary teams Reliable, flexible and conscientious approach to patient management and workplace issues Advanced level of interpersonal and conflict management skills Demonstrated organisational, time management, planning and priority setting skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team |
Desirable Requirements | Ability to consult and adapt treatments to the special needs of oncology patients Interest or experience in an acute cancer care Clinical experience in the delivery of physiotherapy services in acute cancer care, lymphoedema management and other health care settings A wide range of acute clinical skills and experience (in particular, acute cancer care, palliative care and rehabilitation) Expertise and interest in quality, research methodology and program evaluation Post graduate qualifications in physiotherapy, lymphoedema or related field Lymphoedema management qualifications or experience (Level 1 +/- Level 2) Valid Victorian driver’s license |
