Full Time Fixed Term Role
- Fixed Term Until November 2026
- 80 Hours per fortnight including ADO

Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is seeking a highly motivated medical scientist to join our routine biochemistry laboratory on a fixed term contract. New graduates and Medical Scientists with experience in routine diagnostic pathology laboratories are encouraged to apply.Bachelor of Science Medical Science or equivalent Experience with automated biochemistry analysers, analysis and reporting of serum proteins
Victorian Department of Health has endorsed the initiative to restructure existing public pathology by bringing together laboratories into pathology networks operating under a lead health service.
Pathology services from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital will transition to a single pathology service. This creates an exciting opportunity to strengthen the scope, scale and reach of pathology services across the Parkville precinct to benefit all Victorians.
This role will transition to the new lead health service for pathology services once determined.

Position Summary
Provision of high quality routine and specialised testing within the Biochemistry department. This will include automated and manual techniques that meet the requirements of a NATA accredited laboratory conforming to ISO 15189 (Medical Testing) standards and the clinical needs of patients.

Key Accountabilities
- Sample processing and workflow management.
- Maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation.
- Performance, analysis and troubleshooting of Quality Controls
- Validation, release and communication of clinically relevant Biochemistry results to the relevant clinical teams.
- Perform and interpret specialised biochemistry testing within the department.
- Participates in quality assurance programmes as directed by senior staff.
- Train, supervise and monitor relevant laboratory staff-Laboratory technicians, Trainee Scientists and Bursary Students.
- Adherence to safe working practices and the provision of a safe working environment as outlined in the OHS policies and procedures.
- Participates in activities pertinent to continued professional development
