A fixed term, full time position for an Anaesthetic HAT Registrar is available commencing 4 August 2025. 

Applicants are required to be registered with the College of Intensive Care for training.

Essential Requirements:

  • Medical Qualifications registrable AHPRA  
  • One-two years post graduate experience; exposure to Intensive Care &/or Anaesthetics would be an advantage.

Key Accountabilities

Key Position Accountabilities Minimum Standards  Performance Measures 
Gain experience in the areas of Oncological Intensive Care & High Dependency, & Anaesthetics for the range of Oncology Surgery  Gain experience in providing the highest standard of patient-focused, evidence-based care for patients undergoing medical or surgical treatment for the variety of cancers, under the supervision of Intensive Care Specialists & Specialist Anaesthetists. 

Gain Experience in the following: 

  • Intensive care of the range of oncology patients, both surgical and medical 
  • Attendance at emergency calls for resuscitation or cardiac arrest. 
  • Anaesthesia for the range of surgical specialities  
  • Sedation procedures, both within & external to the operating theatres 
  • Anaesthetic assessment clinics & ward based pre-operative assessments 
  • Acute pain management & other post-operative care 
  • Liaison with all professional groups in delivering holistic care to patients. 
Adherence to hospital policies & procedures to ensure ethical care  To actively contribute to regular meetings and demonstrate a commitment to processes and policies ensuring ethical care. 
  • Attend and contribute to regular departmental and audit meetings 
  • Participate in and deliver on quality assurance requirements 
  • Adhere to Organizational policies and procedures ensuring ethical care 
  • Provide cover for absences for colleagues taking annual /study leave. 
  • Timely attendance at clinical sessions, & Departmental meetings. 
  • Completion of patient records, critical incident forms & quality assurance forms 
  • Participation in the on-call roster, with responsibilities for the ICU & Anaesthesia for surgical emergencies, supported by the appropriate Consultant. 
Professional development  Take part in all activities that contribute to ongoing professional and personal development 
  • Attend approved training courses in preparation for the examinations of the relevant College, (ANZCA, RACP, RACS). 
  • Attend the weekly Departmental meetings  
  • Attend weekly academic meetings run by the Anaesthetics Department  
  • Maintain satisfactory clinical & academic performance, reviewed every six months.
