Advanced Trainee (accredited position) in Nuclear Medicine

Your role in our future.
The Cancer Imaging Department provides a high level service in cancer diagnosis, staging, therapeutic monitoring and research. We perform over 10,000 PET/CT examinations per year. Our new home features 4 PET/CT cameras (one camera currently being replaced by a total body PET scanner), two multi-slice quantitative SPECT/CT, two CT, 3T MRI, ultrasound, digital mammography with tomosynthesis. We perform many non-FDG studies including F-18, Ga-68, Cu-64, I-124 and Zr-89 radiotracers for both clinical and research purposes including first in-human studies. There is an integrated large nuclear medicine therapy facility for both outpatient and inpatient care including paediatrics; we performed over 1200 radionuclide therapies in 2024 with Lu-177, Tb-161, Ac-225, I-131 and Y-90 for malignancies including neuroendocrine, prostate, thyroid and lymphoma.
The Advanced Trainee will divide his/her time predominantly in diagnostic nuclear medicine but also including clinical PET and therapeutic nuclear oncology with opportunities to be involved in research. Participation in pre-existing or new research projects for presentation or publication is strongly encouraged.
The Training position is accredited by the AANMS for a core or elective year of advanced training in nuclear medicine. Trainees who have not yet completed core training may be required to rotate to another site to meet their nuclear cardiology training requirements.
A medical degree and AHPRA registration are pre-requisites for appointment and you will need to have completed one year of accredited core training in nuclear medicine or equivalent to be eligible for the position.
