YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE
Role Title: Senior Nurse / Clinical Nurse Specialist - Palliative Care
Role Type: Permanent, Part-time 0.84EFT
About the role
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Managers, Ward 1A – Palliative Care. In this role your clinical expertise and holistic approach will support delivery of high quality, patient focused care. Practising at an advanced nursing level you will contribute to research, quality improvement and education.
Duties for the role will include:
- Provide advanced, evidence‑based nursing care to patients on the palliative care unit.
- Demonstrate clinical leadership and act as a resource and role model for nursing staff.
- Participate in clinical teaching and promote learning for junior staff, students and graduates.
- Support and work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary palliative care team.
About you
You will have effective communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills whilst you are able to prioritise workload and meet set timelines, whilst working autonomously within a multidisciplinary framework
You'll bring with you:
- Extensive experience working with patients living with a life limiting illness
- Ability to engage relevant clinical teams to foster ongoing professional development that optimises patient outcomes.
- Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
- Recent and relevant experience of palliative care delivery in inpatient (hospice) and acute hospital environments and/or community experience
- Possess or working towards Postgraduate qualification in palliative care
- Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and continuing professional development
- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience
- Membership of a relevant professional organisation i.e. Palliative Care Nurses Australia (PCNA) or Palliative Care Victoria (PCV)
The ideal candidate may also meet the following desirable requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead coordination of care of patients across the care continuum
- Demonstrated involvement in professional activities or portfolio in a clinical area
- Has been credentialed as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in palliative care or working towards
- Able to work a rotating 7-day week roster including weekend and night duty
