The Cancer Imaging department provides a full range of diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional procedures for oncology patients. Interventional procedures performed include insertion of CVADs, gastrointestinal/biliary/urology drains and stents, radiological insertion gastrostomy (RIG) and transarterial radio or chemo embolisation’s, selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT) and Microwave and Cryoablation. Biopsies and drainage are performed under ultrasound, CT and MRI. MRI scans are performed at RMH (Inpatient) and off site at East Melbourne (Outpatient). Cancer Imaging nurses perform a vital role in provision of procedural care and assessment of the cancer patient at Peter Mac.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated Registered Nurse who may have experience in Imaging, cath lab, theatre, oncology, or surgical nursing seeking change or RN wanting to learn new skills. The position offers opportunity to upskill in both Imaging and oncology, work day shifts Monday to Friday (some on call) and work with a supportive and cohesive team. Imaging nurses also rotate to our East Melbourne campus.
We are seeking Full Time or Part Time Registered Nurses with the following skills (or willing to work towards):
- Previous experience in Medical Imaging, Cath Lab, theatre/day surgery or oncology (highly desirable but not essential)
- A minimum of 2 years recent acute experience
- An interest in procedural based nursing
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build rapport across disciplines
- A commitment to professional development of self and others
- A demonstrated commitment to providing patient focused care
