About the team
Ward 5A is a 32-bed unit and forms part of one of the largest haematology services in Victoria.
Our patient specialities include Myeloma, Lymphoma, Stem Cell Therapies and Breast Oncology.  Working in a supportive, patient focused and collegial environment, the Ward 5A team will support your development as a specialised haematology nurse, responsible for comprehensive patient assessment and delivery of high-quality cancer care.
Our haematology team provides care for patients:
•    With blood cancers including Multiple Myeloma and Lymphoma
•    Undergoing cellular therapies such as CAR T cell therapy and autologous stem cell transplantation
•    Participating in clinical trials, including Phase I / first in human trials across haematology and medical oncology

Ward 5A works in close partnership with the Royal Melbourne Hospital Haematology Ward and the Parkville Cancer Clinical Trials Unit.

 

About you
You are a compassionate, motivated nurse who demonstrates excellence in patient centred care, strong communication skills, and the ability to think critically and show initiative in a clinical environment.
You will bring:
•    A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Haematology and/or Medical Oncology

Position Summary

  • Haematology nurses provide treatment and care for patients with haematological cancers including myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative disorders, aplastic anaemia, Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, multiple myeloma and plasma cell disorders.
  • As a Registered Nurse at Peter Mac you are responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal healthcare outcomes for patients.
  • The Registered Nurse is a key member of the health care team responsible for ensuring nursing professional, organisational, legal and ethical standards are met. All nurses are supported to develop and grow, in line with Peter Mac’s values.
  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and delegating to other health care professionals such as Enrolled Nurses and Registered Undergraduate Students of Nursing (RUSON).
