Registered Nurse Grade 2 - Anaesthetics/PACU
•    Ongoing, Full-Time Position - 76 hours per fortnight
•    Up to $84,058.00 (YP3) - $104,379.60 (YP9) per annum - (full-time equivalent - to be prorated for Part-Time) dependent on candidate experience. To be discussed with Hiring Manager.

Registered Nurse – Anaesthetics/PACU

OUR PATIENTS
The PMCC operating suite provides a comprehensive service for patients undergoing complex cancer surgery ranging from endoscopy through to specialised robotic surgery and complex multi-speciality cases. Our anaesthetic team provides services for patients undergoing colorectal, upper gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, breast, reconstruction, urology, melanoma and plastics, head and neck, sarcoma, and vascular surgery. Our patients also have access to high dose intraoperative radiotherapy (brachytherapy), and intraoperative chemotherapy (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy). We support patients from across Victoria, Australia and New Zealand.

Our vibrant and highly specialised peri-anaesthetic team has an exceptional culture of clinical learning and support, helping every team member to advance their career. As a nurse within the team, you will have access to a dedicated clinical nurse educator, practice development nurses and a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists and Associated Nurse Unit Managers to support your development.
Our peri-anaesthesia nurses works across anaesthetics and the recovery room (PACU).

 

OUR FACILITIES
The operating suite and anaesthetic department are located on level 6 at the Peter Mac Cancer centre. We operate eight operating theatres and ten PACU bays within our purpose-built facility. Peter Mac’s state of the art infrastructure includes intraoperative radiotherapy. Peter Mac sits within the Parkville precinct and is easily accessible by public transport and the soon to be opened Parkville Station, by bicycle or by car with some staff parking available onsite. Peter Mac also boasts great coffee and food at our multiple cafés.

At Peter Mac, we have some of the most leading clinical cancer nursing education and research teams in Australia. The Nursing Education Unit offers a variety of short courses ranging from introduction to cancer through to epidural and intrathecal infusion management, surgical and chemotherapy courses.

 

The Peri-anaesthetic Clinical Nurse Education team provides support and guidance to pursue postgraduate qualification in peri-anaesthetic nursing.

 

In addition to clinical learning opportunities, you will also have access to our Compassion and Resilience Education (CARE), which is a full day course that focuses on wellbeing and selfcare for nurses.

 

THE ROLE
To provide high quality comprehensive individualised perioperative patient care through the patient’s perioperative journey.
Responsible for provision of comprehensive perioperative patient care as governed by the ACORN Standards for Perioperative Practice in Australia and the policies, procedures and processes of the Operating Suite and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

 

Remuneration under the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024 - 2028 will be from $84,058 per annum (YP3, RN Grade 2 Year 2) to $104,379.60 per annum (YP9, RN Grade 2 Year 8) for full-time. Pro-rata for part-time employees.
