We are excited to announce an exceptional opportunity at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre for an Advanced Practice Radiation Therapy Fellow specialising in palliative radiation therapy.

We invite applications from experienced, dedicated, and passionate Radiation Therapists who have a strong interest in palliative care, research, education, and clinical leadership. This role is designed for those eager to advance their expertise and make a meaningful impact in the care of patients requiring palliative radiation therapy.

This two-year fellowship offers a comprehensive clinical training and development program, providing Fellows with the knowledge and experience needed to achieve accreditation as an Advanced Practice Radiation Therapist (APRT) through the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT). Participants will engage in innovative clinical practice, supported by leading experts, and contribute to shaping new models of care tailored to meet the unique needs of palliative radiotherapy patients. This position represents a unique opportunity to drive advancements in radiation therapy while enhancing the quality of care for a vulnerable patient cohort. This position is offered as an ongoing full-time role, with the first two years focused on the fellowship program. Upon completion of the fellowship, the successful candidate will have either achieved ASMIRT APRT accreditation or be in the process of applying for accreditation. The role will then transition into a standard clinical palliative APRT position based at Moorabbin.

Position Summary

To plan and deliver radiation therapy treatment using ionising radiation in accordance with the treatment prescription and in accordance with all Peter Mac protocols and policies and Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia Professional Capabilities and Code of Conduct. Responsible for the technical standards and operation of a specific departmental unit, undertaking significant clinical, administrative, technical or educational responsibilities. To supervise, provide guidance, leadership and assistance with the professional development of the Radiation Therapists delivering Radiotherapy treatment or planning services on that unit.
