Qualitative Researcher - Medical Oncology
- 6-month Fixed-Term, Part-Time position
- 8 hours per fortnight
- 1RA1 - 1RA10 depending on experience
This Qualitative Health Researcher role is a fixed term position reporting to Dr Alesha Thai. This role play will a crucial part in analysing data from focus groups and interviews conducted with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) patients from Peter Mac and Austin Health. Transcriptions will be in English but translated from Vietnamese, Mandarin, Greek and Arabic, however the candidate is not required to be multi-lingual.
The ideal candidate will meet the following essential requirements:
- A Masters or Ph.D. in Public Health, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in qualitative research methods, particularly in conducting and analysing focus groups and interviews.
- Proficiency in qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of academic writing and presentations.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Attention to detail and high standards of accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Commitment to ethical research practices and cultural sensitivity.
Desireable requirements:
- Experience working with CALD communities or understanding of cultural and linguistic diversity in healthcare settings is highly desirable.

Position Summary
The Qualitative Health Researcher role play will a crucial part in analysing data from focus groups and interviews conducted with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) patients from Peter Mac and Austin Health. This research aims to understand patients' experiences managing treatment-related side effects and is part of a broader initiative to improve access to symptom support services, specifically symptom and urgent review clinics and clinical nurse consultants.

• Develop coding frameworks and conduct thematic analysis to identify key themes and patterns in the data.
• Collaborate with the research team to interpret findings and contribute to the development of actionable insights.
• Prepare reports and presentations to communicate research findings to stakeholders.
