Applicants are invited to join an exciting multi-discliplinary research program within the Cancer Epigenetics Laboratory led by Mark Dawson at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and The University of Melbourne (www.thedawsonlab.com), focusing on the development of adaptive processes involved in therapeutic resistance in lung cancer.

 

This specific project will utilise a broad range of cell and molecular biology and chromatin-based assays to develop novel therapeutic strategies in lung cancer.

 

This position is responsible for:

  • Carrying out experiments and analysing data that fulfills the aims of the project
  • Accurate analysis and interpretation of data
  • Careful, accurate and timely record keeping with a high level of integrity and ethics
  • Communication of research outcomes through presentation of results and participation in lab meetings

 

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct rigorous, valid and ethical research both independently and as part of a research team.

 

The position will be initially for a fixed term of 24 months with the opportunity to extend. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

This position is:

  • 24-months fixed-term, full-time
  • Onsite presence essential at 305 Grattan Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000
  • Basic Salary Range: $99,725.81 to $115,527.48 AUD
  • Advertising from 11 December 2025 to 11 January 2026

Position Summary

This position is an invitation to join an exciting research program focusing on the development of adaptive processes involved in therapeutic resistance in lung cancer. This specific project will utilise a broad range of cell and molecular biology and chromatin-based assays to develop novel therapeutic strategies in lung cancer. The position requires a highly motivated and skilled scientist with a specific interest in cancer epigenetics. The candidate should be hightly skilled in various molecular, cell biology and next gen sequencing approaches. Importantly, the successful candidate will be capable of working in an independent manner within an existing team.
