About the team
The Pharmacy team at Peter Mac plays a key role in supporting high-quality patient care, incorporating all facets of innovative clinical pharmacy practice, including personalised medicine strategies and clinical pharmacogenomics. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, the pharmacogenomics pharmacy team facilitates germline pharmacogenomics screening, patient consent and education, and implements pharmacogenomic-guided medicines optimisation recommendations for patients planned for select systemic anticancer therapies. With a strong focus on innovation, quality, and collaboration, the team contributes directly to advancing personalised medicines strategies through research and improving outcomes, keeping patient care at the centre of everything we do.

 

 

About the role

As a Grade 2 Pharmacogenomics Pharmacist, you will develop a solid understanding and working experience of pharmacogenomics in oncology. You will also enrol into and undertake a full-time practice-based PhD in pharmacogenomics research within oncology and solid organ transplantation, progressing EMR (electronic medical record) optimisation, and broadening education strategies, as part of a 2025 MRFF Grant, ‘Trial Implementation of Pharmacogenomics to improve Complex Hospital Care.’

You will be someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who is able to build strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. 
 
You’ll bring with you:

  • AHPRA registration, or be eligible for registration.
  • A track record consistent with University of Melbourne entry criteria for PhD candidature 
  • Well-developed organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Previous experience in oncology pharmacy practice is highly desirable.

1.Drug therapy for individual patients is assessed, monitored, and appropriate advice given

Correct medications are available for patient administration when needed.
