About the role

The Payroll Systems Business Analyst role is responsible for leading quality assurance and systems improvement initiatives to ensure a high-quality, timely, and accurate payroll function. This position is responisble for:

  • Acting as an information source, providing training and support to ensure effective use of the payroll systems and adhere to quality assurance processes and procedures
  • Creating, adopting and implementing system test plans ensuring acceptable Auality and integrity of the system when implementing Enterprise Agreements & Awards
  • Providing day of pay support to the payroll team, ensuring all issues are escalated and resolved within the given timeframes.
  • Providing accurate and timely information to staff regarding pay queries.
  • Maintaining accurate master data records relating to EBA increases

 

This position is:

  • Ongoing full time
  • Onsite presence essential at 305 Grattan Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000
  • Basic Salary Range: $80,000 to $85,000 AUD
  • Advertising from 5 January 2026 to 2 February 2026

 

About you

The ideal candidate has experience with implementing Enterprise Agreements & Awards, whilst also understands and demonsrates the payroll function and need for timely and accurate processing, with a high attention to detail and accurarcy.


You'll bring with you:

  • Demonstrated SAP Payroll Processing experience (2 Years+) including functional knowledge of SAP system.
  • Advanced reporting, analytical with problem solving capabilities.
  • Advance Microsoft Excel - VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables and Analysis of data.
  • Systems administration, including cost centre, user and EBA maintenance.
  • Experience in high volume payroll environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of high performance team.

  • Operates within the organisation's policies and procedures governing all payroll related processes and operational requirement.

2. Quality Assurance and Reporting
  • Acting as an information source, providing training and support to ensure
  • effective use of the payroll systems and adhere to quality assurance processes and procedures.
  • Using project management methodologies, principles and techniques to develop project plans and to resource and/or manage projects.
  • Creating, adopting and implementing system test plans ensuring acceptable quality and integrity of the system when implementing Enterprise Agreements & and Awards.
  • Implements and manages regular payroll audits to ensure accurate data entry and processing.
  • Analysis of payroll data that results in advice on quality and service improvements.
3. People and Culture
  • Liaise closely with People and Culture to ensure accurate capture of the requirements for Enterprise Agreements and Awards.
  • Closely collaborate with Employee Relation Consultants to ensure that criteria related to employee compensations and benefits with the Enterprise Agreements and Awards are met during systems testing.
4. Payroll Management
  • Works closely with PH Functional Specialist ECP, Payroll Operations Manager and Payroll Operations team members and is able to provide guidance and support to the payroll team as required within the scope of the role.
  • Working with internal users to identify and evaluate inefficiencies and recommending optimal business practices, and system functionality and behaviour.

5. Payroll Operations
  • Has an understanding of Health Awards and Salary Packaging requirements.
  • A strong understanding SAP and Microsoft Excel, leveraging these systems effectively for payroll processes.
  • Providing day of pay support to the payroll team, ensuring all issues are escalated and resolved within the given timeframes.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to staff regarding pay queries.
  • Maintains accurate master data records relating to EBA increases.
  • General administrative duties/filing as required.
  • Assists other Payroll staff as required.
  • Support for Salary Packaging issues.
6. Service Delivery
  • Understands the importance of prompt responses to enquiries and requests and prioritises as needed keeping customers informed of progress.
  • Understands the sensitivity of Payroll related matters and salary information ensuring compliance with privacy laws and Peter Mac policy on handling of confidential information.
7. Continuous Improvement
  • Participates in regular people systems team meetings where contribution to solutions to problems with a focus on continuous improvement is expected.
  • Raises issues of concern in relation to payroll related processes and matters using the Service Now and BAU Enhancements Register as the tools to capture these.
8. Relationship Management
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with staff and management of Peter Mac.
  • Cooperates with other members of the Finance and People and Culture teams regarding Payroll related matters.
