Palliative Care Project Manager

  • 12-month fixed-term, part-time position
  • 2-days or 16 hours per week (0.4 FTE)

About the role

 

The project manager will provide oversight, coordination and management of the Care Plus Extend project, guiding the conduct, evaluation and oversight of the reporting and research outcomes of the project.

 

A key component of this role involves engagement and communication with a wide audience of stakeholders, including the Community Advisory Group which provides strategic direction and guidance on the project, as well as communication with all relevant stakeholders including the VCCC, clinical staff, stakeholders at partner hospitals in metropolitan and regional areas and palliative care service providers. 

 

About you

 

You will have highly developed interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise and work effectively with a range of people across all levels of the organisation. 

 

You'll bring with you:

  • Degree in science, psychology, General Nursing or health related discipline that meets the requirements of Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Experience in working effectively, providing supervision and management of teams 
  • Excellent written communication skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to apply research methodologies and quantitative/qualitative data analysis 
  • High-level problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise judgement and initiative, while maintaining commitment to achieving outcomes 
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • High quality written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility and ability to develop new skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail

 

Experience with project report writing and a PhD / research higher degree or progress towards in a relevant area will be an advantage.

Position Summary

Coordinate delivery of the Care Plus Project across the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and The Royal Melbourne Hospital. This will involve identification of possible participants for this project, data capture and follow up and project outcome analysis.

At other times, as agreed between the successful applicant and the Director of Palliative Care and the VCCC Professor of Palliative Medicine, the successful applicant may be involved with other research projects.

The aim of the position is to support the development, project management and successful progress primarily of the Care Plus project, and subject to time and agreement, of other Palliative Care research conducted by the Parkville Integrated Palliative Care Service and Palliative Nexus.  This will include service evaluation, facilitating the development of research databases in palliative care and providing support for a series of other projects undertaken. 

Applicants must be qualified and/or experienced in palliative care research – specifically must be familiar with research methodology, recruitment to palliative care trials, data management and reporting, audit and evaluation, plus be able to assist with external auditing and quality arrangements.
