We are currently seeking an experienced Nurse Unit Manager to lead our Medical Oncology Ward (Ward 3A), an acute 32-bed inpatient unit dedicated to the care of patients with complex medical oncology needs. This is an extraordinary opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of patients with diverse cancers, ranging from head, neck, lung, bone and soft tissue, genitourinary system, gastrointestinal system, neurological system, and skin cancers. Ward 3A provides inpatient cancer care to Adolescent and Young Adult patients as well as supports occasional inpatient care of paediatric patients. 

 

About the Role: 

As the Nurse Unit Manager on Ward 3A, you'll play a vital leadership role within an exceptional multidisciplinary team, overseeing the delivery of top-tier care to patients throughout their cancer journey. From diagnosis to treatment, symptom management, and end-of-life care, you’ll be at the forefront of patient care, leading a team that’s committed to excellence. In this exciting and fast-paced environment, no two days are the same, and every moment counts. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and inspire the nursing team on Ward 3A, providing day-to-day guidance and support.  

  • Work closely, and take a leadership role, within a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic, world-class patient care. 

  • Oversee the delivery of exceptional, compassionate care to a diverse patient population. 

  • Manage clinical care across a variety of oncology treatments, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiotherapy. 

  • Champion continuous quality improvement, focusing on patient safety, outcomes, and satisfaction. 

  • Mentor and develop nursing staff, helping them to grow and reach their full potential. 

  • Monitor KPIs and manage financial performance for Ward 3A, ensuring efficient resource allocation, cost management, and alignment with budgetary targets while maintaining high-quality patient care.

Unit Overview:

Ward 3A is a 32-bed acute inpatient unit dedicated to the care of patients with complex medical oncology needs. This ward provides treatment and care for individuals with a range of cancers, including head and neck, lung, bone and soft tissue, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, neurological, and skin cancers. Ward 3A also provides inpatient care to Adolescent and Young Adult patients, as well as supporting occasional inpatient care for paediatric patients. Treatment modalities include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and supportive care for a diverse range of oncology conditions.  Ward 3A is actively involved in clinical trials and fosters a culture of learning and clinical excellence, offering a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of patients facing complex cancer diagnoses.
