Do you have a passion for immunisation and staff health? We are offering a part-time, ongoing opportunity to join our Infection Prevention team as a Nurse Immuniser.
In this part-time ongoing role for 40 hrs per fortnight, you will be responsible for collaborating with staff to align with the Australian Commission for Safety and Quality in Health Care, Preventing and Controlling Infections Standard. In this new role, working alongside a team of experienced infection prevention nurses and healthcare professionals, your role will be to lead in the planning, implementation and ongoing running of a staff immunisation service. This will be achieved through reviewing, assessing and documenting staff immunisation evidence, following up staff who require additional evidence and vaccinations and supporting the staff to meet their onboarding immunisation requirements. The role will also be responsible for assisting in outbreak and exposure management when staff are involved, assisting Infection Prevention in occupational exposure management as required and contributing to the annual flu campaign. Working alongside a team of experienced infection prevention nurses and healthcare professionals, you will contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based infection prevention strategies aligned with Peter Mac’s strategic priorities. This role provides the opportunity to contribute to improving both staff health and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess and document healthcare workers immunisation evidence
Follow-up staff who have no provided sufficient immunisation evidence
Maintain confidential records and a data base of vaccination status of healthcare workers
Facilitate and maintain effective communication with all staff across Peter Mac
Maintain currency of knowledge of standards and regulations related to immunisation and vaccination and vaccine preventable diseases
Essential Requirements:
AHPRA Registered Nurse with a minimum of 1 years post-graduate experience.
Current Nurse Immuniser (recognised in Victoria)
Desirable Requirements:
Previous experience with vaccination campaign/s or immunisation programs
High level of communication both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with efficiency and ability to prioritise workload
Ability to conduct risk assessments and recommend intervention strategies
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective education to all levels of staff

Position Summary
The Nurse Immuniser role will be directly responsible for reviewing and documenting staff onboarding vaccination evidence in accordance with the Peter Mac Staff Immunisation policy. The Registered Nurse Immuniser to support staff health and the onboarding of new staff to Peter Mac.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Surveillance of hospital associated infections including
Participates in meeting VICNISS requirements for healthcare worker vaccination requirements.
2. Data Analysis and reporting
Participates in analysis of the annual health care worker influenza program and maintenance of the staff vaccination database.
Employs the skills of timely and effective communication with healthcare personnel and teams to guide and achieve optimal performance outcomes.
3. Continual professional development
Maintains mandatory training requirements specified by Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre
4. Teaching and research
Provides education of staff at a formal and informal level to the Parkville and other campuses.
