Permanent Part Time Position
This is a permanent part time position at 24 hours per week and reports to Manager: Specialist Nurses
We are seeking a highly motivated nurse to join the Late Effects Team as a Clinical Nurse Consultant.
The nurse will be an experienced practitioner who uses and facilitates evidence- based practice which is visionary, creative and appropriate to the tumour stream/service.
The successful applicant will predominantly be responsible for supporting patients and their family members through all aspects of their cancer experience.
This will include making phone calls to and taking phone calls from patients from all treatment modalities and managing new referrals to the service. The ability to work with all members of the team as well as allied health and community services is essential.
There will be opportunities to learn and develop knowledge and skills specific to cancer nursing and late effects via nursing colleagues and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Essential Requirements |
- Registered Nurse
- A Masters in Nursing or a relevant field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in oncology nursing at a senior level

1.8. Contribute to the development of local, national and international evidence based care guidelines, policies and procedures and patient resources

2. Screening and Assessment
2.1. Ensure referrals are triaged in a timely fashion
2.2. Ensure patients with complex needs are identified and supported in a timely manner to optimize patient outcomes

- Referrals are triaged within 72 hours of receipt
- Evidence based assessment tools are completed for new patients and referrals made as required
- Demonstrates expertise in clinical assessment skills and care planning for patients with complex physical and psychosocial needs
- Supports other nurses to develop expert clinical assessment skills and develop individualised care plans

- Percentage of new patients screened for supportive care needs at initial consult
- Number of phone calls received regarding symptom management
- Number of cancellations on day of treatment as patient is not ready for care
- Appropriate triage into PAC
- Number of patients who receive a survivorship consult at the end of treatment
- Evidence of submitting an abstract for conference presentation or manuscript for publication, minimum 1 submission every 2 years.
- Evidence of contributing to/being involved in at least one research/QA project per year.
