YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE
A fixed term, fractional role at 0.2 EFT (14 hours per fortnight) is available for an experienced Palliative Care Physician between 17 March 2025 and 15 September 2025.

1. Provides high quality patient care using an evidence based, cost effective approach.

  • Attend Outpatients as rostered
  • Undertake ward service (inpatients) as rostered
  • Participate in initiating and contributing to clinical trials

  • Actively and regularly participate in peer review patient related activities.

2. Provides intellectual leadership.

  • Make conceptual advances
  • Develop clinical, translational and/or laboratory research that meets the Centreandrsquos needs (target- Principal Investigator of minimum of 1 research project)
  • Is successful in obtaining appropriate grants (target is to obtain peer-reviewed funding for at least one project every 3 years)
  • Is successful in publishing in peer-reviewed literature (target is to publish at least 1 publication per year)
  • Establish valuable external collaborations
  • Comply with Good Clinical Practice guidelines in research activities.

3. Supervises and trains registrars, residents, medical students, nursing and allied health staff and participates in other educational activities.

  • Participates in hospital wide educational programs, including affiliated organisationandrsquos programs
  • Provides appropriate educational support to palliative medicine registrars and fellows and provides supervision and mentorship for them, as required e.g. VPMTP sessions
  • Participates in medical, nursing and allied health education programs
  • Assists in developing the educational program.

4. Promotes the interests of the Organisation.

  • Membership of and contribution to relevant professional organisations
  • Expertise is recognised locally and nationally
  • Publishes work in appropriate journals and publications (minimum target is 1 publication per year as major contributor)
  • Contributes to the Centreandrsquos goals by developing and achieving department and divisional goals
