Overview:
The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is an internationally renowned integrated cancer research, education and treatment centre. Members of the Medical Oncology department work in multidisciplinary tumour streams, with a strong emphasis on providing high quality patient care, research and education. Peter Mac is also home to the Parkville Cancer Clinical Trials Unit (PCCTU), Australia’s largest cancer clinical trials unit supporting trials ranging from first in human studies to novel modalities including theranostics, adoptive cell therapies and peri-operative studies.
We invite applications to join our team working as a 0.6 FTE Consultant Medical Oncologist to work predominantly in the Melanoma and Skin tumour stream. The Melanoma and Skin tumour stream are a globally recognised leader in providing multidisciplinary care to patients with cutaneous melanoma and other skin malignancies. The service offers exceptional opportunities in basic, translational, health services and clinical research with research platforms in genomics, pre-clinical models, Phase I-III trials, molecular imaging, oncogene-targeted therapies and immunotherapies.
This is a part ongoing (0.35 EFT) and part fixed term (0.25EFT – 3 year) appointment. It will involve working in 3 outpatient clinics per week, participating in the melanoma service referrals roster and the Medical Oncology departmental ward service. Applicants will have medical qualifications that can be registered in Victoria and FRACP in medical oncology or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality care to patients with melanoma and other cutaneous malignancies, as well as other medical oncology patients when on ward service
- Collaborate within the Melanoma and Skin tumour stream, providing input at the Multidisciplinary Meetings and working closely with clinicians and researchers within the service
- Contribute to clinical trial activity within the Parkville Cancer Clinical Trials Unit (PCCTU), with opportunities to lead and drive investigator-initiated trials as well as commercially-sponsored studies
- Engage in educational activities across the institute, particularly in supervising and mentoring Medical Oncology trainees as well as junior medical staff, medical students and post-graduate research students
- Continually reviews and contributes to quality assurance and improvement activities within the department

Ideal Candidate:
This position is ideally suited to motivated candidates with a strong track record in clinical or translational research, collaborative team engagement and a post-graduate degree or equivalent. Applications from suitably qualified early-mid career medical oncologists are encouraged.

Essential Requirements
•Medical Qualifications suitable for national registration by the Medical Boards of Victoria
•Post graduate qualifications in internal medicine, (FRACP) and medical oncology or equivalent
•Appropriate clinical and research experience post higher qualification
•Experience in participating in clinical research
•Experience in medical education at undergraduate and post graduate levels
•Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with medical staff and other disciplines

•Experience in management of patients with cancer
