About the team

The Department of Genomic Medicine and Parkville Familial Cancer is a large clinical genetic service that provides care for adult patients with a wide range of hereditary conditions, including assessment, genetic testing and ongoing care.

The service includes the Genomic Medicine department, Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Parkville Familial Cancer Centre: an integrated service of the Royal Melbourne and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

About the role

To provide clinical care to patients of the Familial Cancer Centre (FCC) at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

 

Provide highest standard of clinical care to all patients in the Familial Cancer Centre;

• Provision and maintenance of high level of clinical skills;

• Excellent skills and competencies as a clinician and excellent communication skills with patients, their families and one’s colleagues

• Commitment to the values of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the FCC, and commitment to the Hospital’s Code of Ethical conduct;

Ensuring consumers are able to exercise their rights and responsibilities;

Ensuring that patients/families are given adequate information upon which to make informed choices;

Being responsive to patient and family complaints and concerns.

About you

  • Registrable as a specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

• Certification as a specialist Gastroenterologist by the Royal Australasian College ofPhysicians (or equivalent).

• Current participation in a recognised programme for maintaining professional standards (MOPS).

• Appropriate clinical experience including managing and treating patients with familial cancer syndromes

• Ability to conduct clinical research, establish research collaborations and generate competitive funding
