YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE

Gross Foundation Medical Physics Postdoc and Clinical Trainee

Ongoing, Full Time Role

The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer and one of a small group of hospitals worldwide with its own integrated cancer research program and laboratories.

Peter Mac boasts a comprehensive range of imaging, planning and treatment equipment distributed across five campuses: four metropolitan and one regional. This includes 7 Phillips Brilliance Big Bore CT scanners with 4D imaging capability, PET-CT scanner, 16 linear accelerators (15 Varian TrueBeams with advanced imaging capabilities and one Clinac), and a cloud-hosted, hospital-wide Varian Eclipse treatment planning system. We also support a variety of brachytherapy techniques.

In order to support our vision of combining research and clinical service we have created a new position that combines the opportunity for outstanding candidates to continue existing research activities in cancer or commence a new research project relevant to Peter Mac and at the same time undergo training as a clinical radiotherapy physicist. The training programme follows the well-established Training, Education and Assessment Program (TEAP) administered by the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM). Details can be found at https://www.acpsem.org.au/Our-Professions/Certification-and-Training-Programs and the successful candidate is expected to dedicate at least 50% of their time to the program.

The research programme will be established in collaboration with the director of the Department of Physical Sciences and the Research Lead for Medical Physics.

The ideal applicant will have a PhD in a field relevant to medical physics and some research experience. Some familiarity with radiation oncology or diagnostic imaging medical physics and/or radiation safety through education or work experience is expected as well as an interest in and commitment to clinical work. More details about the position can be found at …

The successful applicant will be appointed to the position of Medical Physics Postdoc and Clinical Trainee at Victorian Medical Physics award grade 2, FF6 to 8 (depending on experience). Generous salary packaging options are available.
