About the team

The Medical Imaging Division at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre plays a vital role in the diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing care of cancer patients. Home to cutting-edge imaging technology and expert radiologists, the division delivers high-quality, patient-centred imaging services that support world-leading cancer care and research.

 

About the role

As a Medical Imaging Technologist at Peter Mac you’ll deliver high-quality general and specialist medical imaging services within the Cancer Imaging Department, under the guidance of the modality supervisor. You'll work in a variety of specialities including CT, Angio, Fluoro, Theatre, Mobiles and General X-rays. Training, if you are not familiar with our equipment, will be provided in all these areas.

 

Key responsibilities will see you:

  • Perform routine radiographic examinations and some more advanced imaging (see essential requirements) with accuracy and due patient care 
  • Participate in the care, maintenance and quality assurance of the equipment in the imaging department 
  • Work closely and collaboratively with our Nuclear Medicine/PET technicians
  • Keep abreast of new imaging procedures, techniques and technology 

 

Our MIT’s work a 9-day fortnight, with flexible shifts from 07:30 in the morning till 18:30 in the afternoon. The daily hours are 8.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday. You will be expected to help out in the on-call system, which has a Saturday morning shift from 0830-1230, and on call from 1830-0730 overnight. On-call is usually low in call ins and can be swapped over amongst your colleagues.

About you

You will be someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who is able to build strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. 

 

You’ll bring with you:

  • Qualification in Medical Radiations Science or equivalent
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) 
  • Possession of a radiation use license 
  • Extensive or special knowledge, experience and competence in any of the specialist modalities (CT, DSA, MRI, mammography, QA programs, PACS or RIS)

  • Extensive or special knowledge, experience and competence in any of the specialist modalities (CT, DSA, MRI, mammography, QA programs, PACS or RIS)
