About the role
You will join a dynamic team, dedicated to excellence in clinical and translational research with Peter Mac’s Global Industry Research Alliances (GIRA). The GIRA program currently comprises five formal academic network-based industry research partnerships with leading global pharmaceutical companies including Amgen, AstraZeneca, BMS, GSK and Roche. Peter Mac is the only Australian organisation in these networks. These partnerships allow Peter Mac to work alongside global industry leaders as well as peers at world-leading cancer research centers to foster collaboration and innovation in drug discovery, drug development and collaborative clinical and translational research, enhancing outcomes to benefit our patients. This formally structured program has continued to grow and it is expected that we will expand this portfolio beyond the current alliance partnerships.
The Global Industry Research Alliances (GIRA) Manager is a senior role, with direct responsibility managing several of the individual industry alliance relationships and research portfolios within the team and reports into the Head, GIRA. The objective of the program is to drive high quality, high impact clinical and translational research, including supporting our world class researchers at Peter Mac in maximising the benefits of these industry networks.
This will be a dynamic and interesting role for a motivated candidate with cancer research experience in the health care, clinical trials, pharmaceutical, medical affairs and/or biotechnology sectors. They will work collaboratively with Peter Mac’s leading clinical and translational researchers, with the industry alliance partners and a number of other key stakeholders. The GIRA program fosters collaboration and innovation in drug discovery, drug development and clinical and translational research.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Manage key industry relationships, supporting growth in collaborations, clinical trials, research projects and investments between GIRA partners and Peter Mac.
- Oversee execution of projects according to agreed plans and deliverables, ensuring project success, budgeting and contract facilitation.
- Actively promote Peter Mac clinical and research capabilities through direct industry partner interactions and meetings exchanging information on programs, portfolio and projects.
- Support Peter Mac clinical and translational researchers with development of project proposals, budgets, feasibility, contracts, clinical trial operations and ongoing support of projects to ensure milestones are achieved.
About you
You are highly motivated and thrive in a collaborative environment. You demonstrate initiative, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. You have a good understand of the complexity of investigator driven clinical & translational research from developing complex proposals, budgets, project management and contracts.
You’ll bring with you:
- Degree in a relevant health or scientific discipline, with post graduate qualifications highly regarded.
- Excellent communication, organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work in a team environment, able to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment, adaptable and ability to problem solve.
- Cancer research experience in the health care, clinical trials, pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology sectors and knowledge of clinical trial regulations.
