Hours:  rotating roster 7 days a week.

About the Service
Peter Mac @ Home (PM@H) is our acute, home-based oncology service, operating 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The service integrates Hospital in the Home (HITH) and home-based cancer care, funded through the Department of Health.

 

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our PM@H team as a Community Nurse. This role involves providing high-quality care to patients in their homes.
You will demonstrate a strong commitment to:
•    Delivering excellent community-based care 
•    Ongoing professional development (self and others) 
•    Providing evidence-based practice 
You will be confident working both autonomously and collaboratively and will contribute to the continued innovation and growth of the service.

 

Key Responsibilities
•    Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) management 
•    IV fluid administration 
•    Antibiotic administration 
•    Drain tube and VAC management 
•    Disconnection of IV chemotherapy (Baxter) 
•    Administration of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (chemotherapy and immunotherapy) 
•    Post-radiation therapy wound care 

 

Essential Requirements
•    Current and valid driver’s licence 
•    Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience 
•    Acute hospital experience in surgical, medical oncology, or haematology 

 

Desirable Skills & Experience
•    Experience administering Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) 
•    Competency in IV cannulation and CVAD management 
•    Background in medical oncology, haematology, or surgical care 

 

Remuneration as per Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024-2028. RN HITH/PAC  GRADE 3B (Y15): 111,960.00 (full-time equivalent - to be prorated for Part Time) dependent on candidate experience. To be discussed with Hiring Manager.

  • Registered Nurse Division 1 
  • Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Minimum of three years post registration experience  
  • 12 months Recent, acute medical and surgical experience clinical skills 
  • Competency achieved in in the following skills: peripheral cannulation and CVAD management; administration and management of anti-cancer drugs, safe handling of cytotoxic, monoclonal antibodies and hazardous non-cytotoxic drugs and management of cytotoxic and hazardous non-cytotoxic drug spill
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team 
  • Act as a professional Role Model 
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License
  • Demonstrate ability to provide education to patients, family and staff 

 

Desirable Requirements

 

  • Community nursing experience
