HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGERS / CLINICAL CODERS

 

  • 2x Ongoing, Full-Time roles, 80 hours per fortnight, monthly ADOs and 5 weeks annual leave
  • 1x Ongoing, Part-Time role, 40 hours per fortnight, with flexibility of working days

 

As a member of the Health Information Management led Coding Services team, you will primarily be responsible for the accurate and timely coding of patient records utilising ICD-10-AM, the Department of Health Admission Criteria requirements, and the Australian Coding Standards (ACS).

In addition to this important task, you will be offered opportunities to work with clinical & research champions working with health data, as well as utilising your knowledge and skills in conducting audits, education and clinical documentation activities related to health information data.

 

All members of the clinical coding team are set up to work from home once internal training is completed, and all staff work a hybrid of on site and at home hours.

 

All clinical coding is conducted exclusively using our Epic Electronic Medical Record, which is a shared record across the four Parkville Precinct health services. As such, there is significant interaction with the other health services and the central EMR team, and opportunities to be involved in ongoing development and use of the record across the precinct.

Education

Skills

Essential Requirements •    Tertiary qualification in Health Information Management, or, successful completion of an accredited clinical coding course
•    Significant experience coding with ICD-10-AM 11th Edition
•    Knowledge and proficiency in use of 3M Codefinder software
•    Excellent computer skills including experience using MS Office suite
•    Excellent communication skills
•    Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet internal and external timelines / targets
•    High attention to detail
•    Ability to work as a team member and autonomously 
Desirable Requirements •    Experience in analysing an electronic medical record (EMR) for coding purposes
•    Previous experience using a patient administration system
