Head, Global Industry Research Alliances
- 12-month fixed-term, full-time position
- 80 hours per fortnight with monthly ADOs
- Grade 6: HS6 level with salary dependant on experience
About the program
Peter Mac’s Global Industry Research Alliances program (GIRA) comprises a number formal academic network-based industry partnerships as well as a portfolio of other strategic research alliances. These networks allow Peter Mac to work alongside industry leaders and peers at world-leading cancer research centres to foster collaboration and innovation in drug discovery and drug development, enhancing outcomes that benefit our patients. The formally structured program was established in 2016 and has continued to grow since that time. It is expected that we will expand this portfolio beyond the 5 current alliance partnerships.
About the role
The Head, Global Research Alliances will manage a small team that is tasked with delivering this program for Peter Mac, working collaboratively with Peter Mac researchers and with external global alliance partners. In addition to managing the broader global alliances program, the Head will also have direct responsibility in managing some of the key individual alliance relationships.
The Head, Global Industry Research Alliances will report directly to the Associate Director, Clinical Research and work together with the Director Partnerships and Enterprise and the Manager Parkville Cancer Clinical Trials Unit (PCCTU) to ensure alignment with Peter Mac’s broader partnerships and clinical trials portfolio.

Peter Mac has formal global academic oncology networks with Amgen, AstraZeneca, BMS, GSK, and Roche and is the only organisation in these partnerships. These networks allow Peter Mac to work alongside industry leaders and peers at world-leading cancer research centres to foster collaboration and innovation in drug discovery and drug development, enhancing outcomes that benefit our patients. The formally structured program was established in 2016 and has continued to grow since that time. It is expected that we will expand this portfolio beyond the 5 current alliance partnerships.
