Phase 1 Early Drug Development and Lower GI Fellow
Overview:
The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, a globally recognised leader in cancer care and drug development, as well as Australia’s largest Phase 1 trials unit and Victoria’s only peritoneal centre, invites applications for a joint Phase 1 Early Drug Development and Lower GI Fellow position. This highly mentored role, embedded within the Phase 1/Early Drug Development and Lower GI Program, is tailored for Advanced Trainees completing or recently completed their FRACP, offering a unique blend of clinical trial expertise and specialised Lower GI cancer care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality care to patients enrolled in early-phase clinical trials, with a focus on innovative therapies such as immuno-oncology, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and molecularly targeted agents, including first-in-human studies and novel combinations.
Collaborate with the Lower GI tumour stream, managing colorectal cancer trials and participating in outpatient Lower GI clinics.
Contribute to clinical trial operations and deliver expert medical oncology care within a multidisciplinary team.
Engage in clinically focused translational research, leveraging cutting-edge platforms like genomics integrated into trials.

- Effective working relationships with medical oncology registrars, haematology registrars and other fellows, resident staff, consultants, nursing and allied health staff.
- Effective working relationships with all staff involved in clinical trials.
- Readiness to take direction and willingness to learn from supervisors, other members of the team and other colleagues.
Education
Skills
Essential Requirements:
- Medical Qualifications registerable by the Medical Board of Victoria
- Completed at least two core years of registrar level of training in medical oncology
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team setting
- Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with medical staff and other disciplines
- Previous clinical trial experience an advantage
