About the role
As an Employee Relations Consultant at Peter Mac you will play a crucial role in providing specialist advice and support on a wide range of employment matters. A key function of the role is to support enterprise bargaining processes, implementation of new enterprise agreements and other entitlement related compliance activities.
You’ll also be responsible for:
- Supporting leaders in managing staffing and performance matters
- Managing complex employee relations matters
- Undertaking workplace investigations
- Advising leaders on best practice HR and organisation policy and procedures
- Providing specialist IR advice on industrial instruments and employment legislation

About you
You will be someone who has prior experience in an ER/IR advisory role, with a proven ability to develop effective strategies, solutions and interventions to address the full range of employee relations matters. Experience in the public health sector or a related industry would be highly advantageous.
You’ll bring with you:
- Working knowledge of relevant employment legislation and a proven ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments, policies and procedures in a broad range of situations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Strong client focus and the ability to develop effective working relationships with clients
- Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills, including the ability to negotiate with staff at all levels and manage the resolution of disputes and grievances

• Prior experience in an ER/IR advisory role, with a proven ability to develop effective strategies, solutions and interventions to address the full range of employee relations matters
• Highly developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
• Strong client focus and able to develop effective relationships with clients
• Demonstrated negotiation and problem solving skills, including the ability to negotiate with staff at all levels and manage the resolution of disputes and grievances
• Sound judgement and maturity to handle sensitive matters competently
• Ability to contribute effectively as a participative and supportive team member
Desirable Requirements
• Tertiary qualification in human resources and/or industrial relations will be highly regarded
• Experience in the public health sector or a related industry would be advantageous
• Experience in enterprise bargaining processes, including implementation
• Large/complex organisation experience
• Proficient in the use of Windows environment
• Professional HR membership: i.e. AHRI
• Knowledgeable in SuccessFactors Systems
