Education and Vocation Consultant
Ongoing, Full-Time Role | 80 hours per fortnight with a monthly ADO
The Victorian Adolescent & Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Service is a dynamic, multidisciplinary team of clinicians, educators, and researchers working collaboratively to support young people aged 15–25 who have been diagnosed with cancer.
We are seeking an Education and Vocation Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues to deliver best-practice educational and vocational advice, advocacy, and support to young people impacted by cancer.
The primary focus of the role is to support young people to remain engaged with education, training, and employment pathways, contributing positively to their wellbeing during and following treatment.
Remuneration as per Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2025. Grade 5: Year 1 (HS5): $92,856.40 (full-time equivalent - to be prorated for Part Time) - Grade5: Year 5 (HS33): $102,653.20 (full-time equivalent - to be prorated for Part Time), dependent on candidate experience. The Education & Vocation Consultant is responsible for providing young people with evidence-based, best practice, education advice and advocacy, and engagement or re-engagement, with community-based education or vocation programs, as appropriate.

Skills
| Essential Requirements | • Victorian Institute of Teaching registration (full) and relevant tertiary qualifications. • Minimum of four (4) years teaching experience, and high-level teaching skills. • Extensive experience in the development and delivery of contemporary and innovative teaching and learning programs. • Well-developed interpersonal skills, incorporating high level of computer literacy and capability, written and verbal communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills. |

| 1. Direct Comprehensive Care | • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current cross-sector education systems, particularly in the areas of student learning, wellbeing, and health. • A proven ability to identify educational need and support student transition, in consultation with families, schools/education /employment providers and health professionals. • Develops/coordinates medical/educational support documentation e.g., Medical Advice Forms, Individual Learning Plans, Funding Support Letters, and other relevant documentation in collaboration with families, schools/education/employment, and health professionals. • Assists young people and their patients, families, and schools to maintain continuity of young people’s education during transition from school to higher education. • Coordinates the management of cases (as required). This may include case conferences, family meetings, timetable development, Student Support Group meetings and/or referrals to other services. • Provides evidence-based, best practice education support, information and advice to kindergartens, schools, tertiary institutions, regions, health professionals and community agencies. |

Professional Leadership | • Actively and positively contributes as a member of the team e.g., in group forums, meetings etc. • Actively contributes to self-development by participation in formal supervision, professional development, and annual performance reviews. • Participates and collaborates in an AYA Service Portfolios as required. • Provides secondary consultation, advice, and guidance to members of the AYA team and across the sector as required. |

Research and Innovation | • Supports and participates in research and quality improvement activities. • Participates in data collection, analysis, and reporting activities in line with service and organisational requirements. • Maintains quality standards and excellence in clinical outcomes through evidence-based practice and partnerships with internal and external healthcare professionals. • Participates in report writing and assists with the submission of proposals for grants/special projects funding. |
