Join the dedicated Dental Oncology team at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and contribute to delivering specialised dental care to patients undergoing cancer treatment. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment where your skills will make a meaningful difference to patients and their families.

 

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Dental Assistant to support our busy and highly collaborative Dental Oncology service. Working alongside experienced dental clinicians, you will play an important role in ensuring patients receive safe, efficient, and high-quality care in a hospital setting.

This is a casual role, with approximately three days per week expected, although flexibility with days is available. The role offers the opportunity to build experience within a specialised clinical area while working with a welcoming and supportive team.

 

Key Responsibilities
•    Provide chairside assistance to dental clinicians across a range of procedures
•    Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, instruments, and equipment
•    Support efficient patient flow and clinical operations
•    Assist in delivering specialised dental care for oncology patients
•    Help create a positive, supportive experience for patients and their families/carers

 

About You
We are looking for someone who:
•    Demonstrates empathy, professionalism, and excellent patient care
•    Enjoys working as part of a team in a busy clinical environment
•    Has strong organisation and communication skills
•    Is adaptable and comfortable supporting a range of clinicians and procedures

 

Desirable (but not essential):
•    Experience in surgical dental assisting
•    Experience working in a hospital or specialist healthcare environment

 

This role would suit a dental assistant looking to expand their clinical experience, work within a specialist healthcare setting, and contribute to a team making a real impact on patient care.

2.INFECTION CONTROL
  • Experience in following infection control guidelines within a hospital setting
  • Complies with Infection Control policies and procedures
  • Works with infectious diseases to maintain currency in all infection control and OH&S requirements

  • Ability to manage patient bookings
  • Proficiency in navigating Electronic Medical Record and booking systems for patient bookings
