  • $66,768 to $73,811 (pro-rata for part time) base + salary packaging + super + 5-weeks annual leave

About the team

The Australia and New Zealand Sarcoma Association (ANZSA) is the peak body for the sarcoma community. ANZSA aims to improve outcomes for sarcoma patients through research, education and awareness of sarcomas and related tumours.
 

About the role

As the Communications and Project Officer for ANZSA you will be responsible for all internal and external communications which includes the following:

  • Media and newsletters
  • Orchestrating the Sarcoma Awareness Month and the Great Sarcoma Plank-a-thon campaigns
  • Maintaining and monitoring social media channels
  • Management of the ANZSA website
  • Promoting events, ensuring that all members are aware of the opportunities and updates at ANZSA.
     

Along with the above, you will be responsible for implementing and managing relevant programs in line with the ANZSA strategic plan.
 

About you

You will have a demonstrated ability to develop, manage and execute communications projects and campaigns with an ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders.


You'll bring with you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications or a related field.
  • Minimum three years relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Prior experience in a not-for-profit organisation.
  • Extensive experience in writing and managing the production of communications and promotional materials for a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience of independently researching issues proposing, implementing and managing solutions.
  • Web content production skills using a CMS, basic HTML skills an advantage.
  • Knowledge of graphic design programs, Canvas, Adobe Creative Suite programs Photoshop and InDesign or similar.
  • Experience in dealing with media (desirable).

Position Summary

As the Communications and Project Officer for the Australia and New Zealand Sarcoma Association (ANZSA) you will be responsible for all internal and external communications.

Key Accountabilities

1.  Strategy and planning
  • Develop and deliver clear communication strategies across all initiatives to our members (medical, radiation, surgical, oncologists, nurses and researchers) and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop strategy and manage communication channels to build internal and external engagement.
  • Develop strategy, planning and roll out of printed and electronic publications.
  • Promote and support the coordination of ANZSA’s calendar of educational events and fundraising activities.
  • Plan and strategise ANZSA’s major annual fundraising event “Great Sarcoma Plank-A-Thon.”
2.Communications
  • Develop and manage media strategies, including active and reactive media responses, topical media updates and coordinating and issuing media releases in conjunction with relevant partners.
  • Coordinate, manage, write and edit ANZSA publications including annual report, regular print and electronic newsletters and event materials and promotion.
  • Coordinate and manage video production and dissemination in conjunction with external suppliers.
  • Develop strong, collaborative working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders and suppliers (including partner organisations and collaborators, graphic designers, printers, photographers, video producers etc.).
  • Develop strong relationships with media contacts and outlets.
  • Increase member engagement by enhancing the member experience and knowledge of benefits and opportunities.
  • Monitor media and sarcoma publications for relevant information for members and ideas for publication articles.
  • Support/maintain key working relationships with ANZSA staff and community.

3.  Digital and social media management

  • Manage the ANZSA website and other communications tools to ensure information is up to date and relevant.
  • Manage social media strategy and develop (including content writing and implementation) to increase engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of digital apps and platforms.

4. Project Management
  • Plan and implement projects and programs as approved by the board and senior management.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of community awareness campaigns and promotion of consumer events.
  • Provide support and coordination for key ANZSA member and fundraising events (including on site coordination) as required.
  • Plan and coordinate major annual fundraising event “Great Sarcoma Plank-A-Thon” including on site coordination.
5. Measurement and Evaluation
  • Ensure measurable objectives are in place across all activities.
  • Annual evaluation of KPIs.
6. Duties
  • Undertake any other relevant duties required by the CEO.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, ethical and equitable work environment.
