YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE
Cardiac Sonographer
Ongoing, Part Time Role – 32 Hours per Fortnight
CBD location with public transport options and end of trip facilities for cyclists
 
Peter Mac is looking for a qualified Cardiac Sonographer to support echocardiogram services for ambulatory patients and inpatients at our Parkville site.
It is essential applicants are members of the Australian Sonographers Accreditation Registry and have previous experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.
 
Remuneration as per Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2026 and to be reflective of candidate experience/qualifications. To be discussed with Hiring Manager.

Skills

Essential Requirements •    Bachelor of Science/Applied Sciences
•    Postgraduate studies in cardiac physiology or equivalent
•    A relevant cardiac ultrasound qualification
•    Member of Australian Sonographers Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
•    Previous experience as a cardiac sonographer
•    Strong interpersonal skills
•    Proven ability to independently interpret cardiac ultrasound requests
•    Demonstrated flexibility and availability to work rostered shifts and on call shifts
Desirable Requirements

•    3 years experience as a qualified cardiac sonographer
•    3D ECHO experience
•    Strain imaging and analysis
•    Experience in cardiac sonography for clinical trial research protocols
•    Experience in service improvement or redesign

Key Accountabilities

1. Perform successfully as a Cardiac Technologist/Sonographer with the department
•    Correctly produce Ultrasound Imaging sufficient for diagnostic evaluation.
•    Provide a high level of customer service to all patients and staff
•    Reliably complete examinations in a timely manner and attend workplace in agreed hours
•    Archiving images and management of paperwork
•    Other relevant administrative tasks as required by Cardiologists, Chief Medical Officer, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre echocardiography service or Nurse Unit Manager
•    Attend on-call as directed by the Chief Cardiac Sonographer   
2. Participate in the care, maintenance and quality assurance of the equipment and service •    Quality control implementation on ECHO equipment according to department policy.
•    Maintain adequate accredited cardiac Sonography staff cover for booked sessions
•    Research activities and scans for clinical trials, as required
3. Keep abreast with new imaging procedures and technology •    Documented participation in continuing educational activities
•    Maintain knowledge relevant to a major tertiary teaching hospital
•    Maintenance of ASAR accreditation, CPD requirements and any other training/licenses required by the organisation for departmental staff
•    Support of cardiology registrar program, medical trainees and research coordinators
