Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation plays a crucial role in advancing vital cancer research at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. As the fundraising arm of the hospital, our primary purpose is to accelerate the pace of discovery and innovation in the field of oncology.
The funds raised by the Foundation are directed towards supporting the exceptional researchers and scientists at Peter Mac, empowering them to make significant strides in understanding, preventing, and treating cancer.

 

About the Role
This newly created role within the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation is responsible for designing and delivering CRM integrations and data flows, ensuring solutions are architected, documented, validated, and implemented to a high technical standard.

 

The CRM Technical Analyst will own the end-to-end documentation of system architecture, integration designs, and data flows, providing a clear and sustainable framework for ongoing CRM development and enhancement.
The role involves eliciting and refining technical requirements, conducting technical and process analysis, supporting solution design, and contributing to testing and delivery activities. All work will align with the CRM roadmap and broader organisational IT strategy.

 

Working closely with the CRM Enhancement Lead, the CRM Technical Analyst will collaborate with vendors, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to understand business, data, and integration requirements and translate these into detailed technical specifications. The role is responsible for conducting gap and impact analyses, documenting data mappings, designing integration and architectural workflows, and supporting solution implementation. Hands-on CRM configuration and administration will also form part of the role where appropriate.

Position Summary

This role designs and delivers CRM integrations and data flows, ensures these are
designed, documented, and validated to deliver high‑quality technical solutions.
The role will own the end-to-end documentation of architecture and data flows.
It involves gathering and refining technical requirements, technical and process
analysis, supporting solution design, and assisting with testing and delivery—aligned to
the CRM roadmap and broader IT strategy.

Working closely with the CRM Enhancement Lead, the CRM Technical Analyst
collaborates with vendors, stakeholders and cross‑functional teams to understand data
and integration needs and convert them into actionable technical specifications. The
role conducts gap and impact analysis, documents detailed technical data mapping and
designs architectural flows. It also involves hands‑on configuration within the CRM
where appropriate.

The CRM Technical Analyst also aims to reduce external technical dependency by
developing in‑house capability, internal documentation, and repeatable solution
patterns. The role supports delivery of core integrations in the operational plan,
including automation between the CRM and supplementary systems.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical aptitude, analytical capability, and Agile
delivery skills, with a methodical approach to problem‑solving and a solid
understanding of CRM platforms, system integration, and data flows.

Skills

Essential Requirements • Strong experience administering, configuring, or supporting CRM platforms, preferably
Blackbaud CRM
• Hands on experience in analysis and documentation of data models, integration flows,
system logic, system wiring diagrams, and CRM configuration components
• Hands‑on experience designing and implementing API‑based integrations
• Strong system testing skills, including writing test scripts, and validating integrations
• Ability to work within Agile or hybrid delivery environments, contributing to backlog
refinement and sprint activities
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail, able to manage multiple technical tasks and
deadlines simultaneously
• Demonstrated problem‑solving ability, including diagnosing system issues and evaluating
technical impacts or dependencies.
• Ability to work both autonomously on technical tasks and collaboratively with developers,
vendors, and business teams.
• Reliable, accountable, and adaptable in environments with shifting priorities and complex
data requirements.
• High level of computer literacy, including strong proficiency with Excel, SQL or query tools,
and system administration interfaces
Desirable Requirements • Certification in Data Analysis or Business Analysis
• Tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Project Management or
similar
• Experience with CRM platforms, particularly Blackbaud products
• API/webhook/SFTP‑based integrations with fundraising platforms
• Experience in the not-for-profit sector with knowledge of fundraising and best practice

2. Maintain Documentation and Reporting • Own and maintain the Foundation’s documentation on the technical architecture,
including the CRM system wiring diagram, integration architecture, entity
relationship diagrams (ERDs), file‑flow diagrams, and data‑movement
documentation.
• Define and maintain technical governance standards for integrations, configuration,
documentation, and architecture.
• Map processes and translate use cases, business scenarios, and user needs into clear
functional and technical documentation.
• Develop and maintain artefacts including traceability matrices, validation
documentation, AS‑IS/TO‑BE maps, and change logs.
3. Lead Data Integrity Tasks and Data Migration • Plan, manage and execute data conversion activities ensuring accuracy and
alignment with solution design
• Provide detailed field-level data mapping, seek feedback and agreement from data
owners on required conversion and migration.
• Audit, log, and analyse data issues, and coordinate remediation actions.

4. Manage System and Integration Testing • Lead system and integration testing for delivered CRM solutions, including
developing test scripts, consolidating results, and managing defect resolution
• Lead Integration testing across systems from up-stream integration solutions to
downstream exports, ensuring end‑to‑end data‑flow validation
• Inform and design performance testing including file‑transfer speed, API throughput,
and error‑handling as well as failure-mode testing and detection
• Provide technical input to release communications by validating system changes
5. Maintain Compliance Standards • Ensure all individual and CRM activities comply with all applicable Australian laws
and regulations; policies and procedures; fundraising standards and codes of
conduct and; policies and procedures
6. Team Consultation and Participation • Work collaboratively and foster strong positive and professional working
relationships with all stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team, and Peter Mac ICT to drive well
designed outcomes and high performing results
