ABOUT THE CENTRE OF RESEARCH EXCELLENCE IN LYMPHOEDEMA AND LYMPHATIC REGENERATION

Lymphoedema affects 300,000 Australians at any one time, most as a consequence of cancer treatment. Lymphoedema occurs due to damage or deficiency of the lymphatic vascular network. There are no current therapies that specifically target the lymphatic system to treat lymphoedema. The Centre of Excellence in Lymphoedema and Lymphatic Regeneration is a newly funded basic research centre co-led from the Peter Mac and the Centre for Cancer Biology at the University of South Australia. It includes member laboratories based in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, the Unites States and the United Kingdom.  The centre aims to improve fundamental new understanding in lymphatic vascular biology, the genetics of lymphoedema and to discover new regenerative therapies that target lymphatic vasculature.

We are seeking to appoint a part-time (.5 FTE) Project Coordinator within the CRE team to provide high level coordination and program management spanning the CRE Programs, supporting the research of our chief investigators around Australia and Internationally. The CRE Project Coordinator will coordinate meetings, establish and maintain the CRE website, seek out opportunities for our investigators to attract additional funding, arrange meetings of the Scientific Advisory Committee, the Consumer group and coordinate CRE annual meetings and retreats.

The position will work in close collaboration with the CRE Co-Directors; Prof Ben Hogan at Peter Mac and Prof Natasha Harvey at CCB, Adelaide. The position will support our efforts to develop and implement the Research Program’s key projects and initiatives and to ensure that the program thrives.

The activities of the CRE Project Coordinator will include coordinating key meetings, managing timelines and budgets, developing key documentation, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, project milestone and financial reporting and stakeholder management.
