  • 12 month Fixed-Term, Full-Time position - 76 hours per fortnight (with potential for extension).
  • $74,448.40 - $93,003.00 base salary per annum + super + salary packaging + 5-weeks annual leave.

About the role

The Research Data Analyst will work closely with researchers, clinicians, educators, and digital health teams to support health services research and service improvement through the secondary use of clinical data.

Embedded across the EMR and Health Services Research teams, the role is responsible for assessing data requirements, designing and delivering reporting and analytical workflows, and extracting data from the electronic medical record (EPIC) and other clinical systems (eg. RedCap and other data platforms) to support priority research initiatives.

The position operates within established Peter Mac data governance frameworks, ethics, and EMR change control frameworks, contributes to the prioritisation and coordination of data requests, and documents data processes and learnings to support sustainable, collaborative models of clinical data use. With a strong focus on cancer informatics, the role contributes to improving both research capability and clinical care through high-quality, compliant, and reproducible analytics. $74,448.40 - $93,003.00 base salary per annum + super + salary packaging + 5-weeks annual leave.

 

About you

You have a proven ability to manage multiple requests, prioritise work, and deliver to agreed timelines with a strong collaboration skills and experience working within multidisciplinary teams.

Relevant tertiary qualification in data science, health informatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrated experience extracting, managing, and analysing data from electronic medical records (EMR), preferably Epic, or other complex clinical information systems.

Essential 
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in data science, health informatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience extracting, managing, and analysing data from electronic medical records (EMR), preferably Epic, or other complex clinical information systems.
  • Strong understanding of clinical data structures, healthcare workflows, and secondary use of health data for research or service improvement.
  • Experience in managing data within a clinical context
  • Experience designing and building analytical or reporting workflows using SQL and/or relevant analytics tools such as Python/R/SAAS/PowerBI.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within data governance, privacy, ethics, and security frameworks in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong documentation skills, including ability to produce clear data definitions, workflows, and process documentation.
  • Ability to communicate complex data and analytical concepts to clinical, research, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple requests, prioritise work, and deliver to agreed timelines.
