Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Specialist Clinics and Outpatient Pathology
Employment Type: Ongoing, Part-time Role
Hours: 48 Hours per Fortnight (0.63 EFT)
This role presents an excellent opportunity for nurses who are motivated to further develop their leadership capabilities and contribute to the management of a multidisciplinary team within a dynamic and supportive clinical environment.
Position Overview and Performance Measures
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) will co-lead the management of Specialist Clinics and Outpatient Pathology services, supporting the coordination of nursing activities and related services to ensure high-quality patient care aligned with organisational strategic objectives. In the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), the ANUM will assume responsibility for the operational management of Specialist Clinics and Outpatient Pathology.
Key Responsibilities and Performance Measures
• Co-lead the management of Specialist Clinics and Outpatient Pathology services.
• Coordinate nursing activities and related services to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
• Assume leadership responsibility in the absence of the NUM.
• Develop and implement strategies to streamline workflows and enhance service delivery.
• Support initiatives that improve patient experience across outpatient pathology and specialist clinics.
• Contribute to quality, safety, and continuous improvement portfolios.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must demonstrate the following:
• Registration as a Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
• Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
• Experience in staff management and leadership
• Experience managing quality portfolios
• Wound care management experience
• Performance development and/or leadership experience
Remuneration as per Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024-2028. ANUM Year 1 (Y0W11): $116,911.60 (full-time equivalent - to be prorated for Part Time) - ANUM Year 2 (YW12): $120,848.00 (full-time equivalent - to be prorated for Part Time), dependent on candidate experience. Position Summary

Management of Patient Care Continuum 1.1 Ensures that the provision of nursing care within the team meets the needs of patients and their carers. 1.2 Ensure staff in Specialist Clinics and Outpatient Pathology maintain working knowledge of emergency policy and procedure. 1.3 Ensure staff in Specialist Clinics and Outpatient Pathology are aware of and adhere to hospital policy and procedure. 1.4 Builds relationships with staff, peers and colleagues to facilitate the best staffing outcomes 1.5 Ensures daily local operational activities of Specialist Clinics and Outpatient Pathology related to supplies/stock, equipment, and physical environment are attended to. 1.6 Ensures continuity of care where possible with casual staff which is patient centred, outcome orientated. 1.7 Ensures that quality standards of nursing documentation are maintained according to PMCI standards of documentation. 1.8 Timely response and management of incidents and patient feedback. |
• Patient feedback and quality indicators demonstrate that a high level of care is provided by nursing staff, admin and pathology collectors • Patient documentation accurately reflects nursing intervention 100% of time. • Staff feel engaged and part of the team/unit. • Incidents and patient feedback is reported and followed up in timely manner, and recommendations for change made where warranted. |

2. Resource management Financial Resources |
• Full establishment of appropriate staff is achieved • Recruitment strategies are appropriate and responsive to the environment • Performance plans are implemented where required for staff and appraisals are conducted annually as delegated for 100% of staff • Monitors clinical consumables and stock requirements ensuring effective utilisation of available resources. • Assist NUM with completion, monitoring and delivery of 100% of timesheets • Staff rostering complete with appropriate staffing requirements, in accordance with EBA. |
