Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Ward 3A (Medical Oncology Inpatient Unit)

The role of the Associate Nurse Unit Manger is to support the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and act in their role when required. This is a position of clinical leadership and accountability that aligns with Peter Mac’s values. This includes management of the unit through the coordination of nursing activities and related services for the provision of quality patient focussed care in conjunction with other members of the leadership team. To translate the objectives policies, and procedures of PMCC into effective care for our patients. To ensure/apply evidence based best practice standards of oncology nursing practice.

 

Remuneration as per Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024-2028 – ANUM Year 1 (YW11) $112,174.40 per annum (full-time equivalent - to be prorated for part-time) to ANUM Year 2 (YW12) $115,949.60 (full-time equivalent - to be prorated for part-time) dependent on candidate experience.   • Promotes an environment which encourages awareness of financial resources and targets
  • Supports NUM with processes to improve financial variances

3. Contributes to clinical practice, education and research

  • Participates in the development of formal and informal educational sessions to continuously improve clinical practice
  • Collaborates with the NUM and clinical nurses to determine priorities for educational sessions
  • Encourages staff attendance at hospital in-service programmes, external conferences and short course program
  • Supports nursing research to promote clinical knowledge development and evidence based clinical practice
  • Systematically evaluates own practice and identifies pertinent areas of clinical practice, management and education for investigation
  • Ensures clinical practice is based on best practice standards in oncology nursing and current policies and procedures

4. Quality and Improvement

  • Works collaboratively with the NUM to establish and enable a culture of performance improvement and evaluation, and develops and evaluates new initiatives to mitigate risk, ensuring quality of nursing care and excellent patient outcomes
  • Supports the NUM with the development of KPIs and quality activities for the Ensures adherence and delivery against Service KPIs through active engagement with staff and role modelling
  • Participates in relevant unit activities including audits and reporting to monitor and report against standards of clinical practice, recommending improvements
  • Supports NUM with preparation and successful participation of the clinical unit in accreditation activities
  • Demonstrated leadership and promotion of implementation of evidence-based practice
