Animal Technician - Cryopreservation Core
- Part time Ongoing - 20 hrs/wk (4 hrs/day ) - The position requires flexible hours

We are seeking an Animal Technician to provide requisite animal technology support for the cryopreservation and rederivations service. Working with the Core Facility Manager to ensure the provision of a high quality ‘user-oriented’ animal reproductive technology service. To support the managers on issues of compliance, animal welfare and routine preparation and scheduling. Responsible for the daily husbandry, health monitoring and records of mouse colonies in an efficient manner under supervision.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- To assist in our quarantine facility and at times work independently. The position requires flexible working hours.
- To provide and ensure high quality animal husbandry and to maintain high animal ethical standards.
- Assist with injection and collection techniques under supervision in accordance with SOP’s, AEEC approval and guidelines. - Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, biohazard and animal welfare rules and regulations.
- To maintain a high level of hygiene and tidiness within facility.
- Effective communication and liaison with laboratory staff and team members.
The ideal candidate will meet the following essential requirements, whilst experience in the use of colony management databases and a Diploma of Applied Science – Animal Technology or higher is desired.
- Animal husbandry experience
- Knowledge of mouse breeding regimes
- Knowledge of PC2 containment requirements
