Allied Health Imaging Assistant
- Causal position available - 16 hours per fortnight.
- Up to $32.91 (IN29) per hour + applicable casual loading.

The Role
As a Medical Imaging Assistant within our Cancer Imaging team, you will play an important role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting the provision of high-quality nuclear medicine and PET imaging services. Working alongside Nuclear Medicine Technologists, nurses, pathology collectors, and allied health assistants, you will help facilitate the smooth day-to-day operation of the department and contribute to a positive patient experience.
You will support patient preparation and workflow, assist with clinical and operational activities, and help ensure the safe, efficient delivery of imaging services. As part of a large multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to approximately 70 patient imaging episodes each day.
This is a casual position providing leave cover and regular support of approximately one day per week (8 hours), with the flexibility to work additional shifts as required
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Support
Prepare and position patients for PET and Nuclear Medicine procedures under the direct supervision of clinical staff.
Coordinate patient movement throughout the department, ensuring smooth transitions between waiting areas, preparation bays, and imaging rooms.
Support patient comfort, dignity, and safety throughout their visit.
Clinical Assistance
Assist with patient transfers and mobility using safe manual handling techniques.
Provide support to Nuclear Medicine Technologists and nursing staff during daily clinical activities.
Operational Excellence
Maintain the cleanliness, organisation, and readiness of examination and imaging rooms.
Stock, monitor, and replenish clinical supplies and consumables.
Adhere to infection prevention and control practices, radiation safety requirements, and departmental procedures.
Administrative Support
Assist with patient registration, appointment coordination, and data entry under supervision.
Contribute to accurate record keeping and efficient departmental workflows.

Essential Requirements
- Allied Health Assistant Certificate III or IV (or equivalent)
- First aid and basic life support (CPR)
- Driver’s Licence (valid in Victoria)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good level of interpersonal and conflict management skills and a proven ability to relate effectively with staff, patients and the general public
- Demonstrated organisational, time management, planning and priority setting skills in relation to own workload
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work independently
- Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development and education
- Good computer literacy
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within an acute hospital setting
- A demonstrated interest in cancer care
- Experience working with a variety of allied health professions
- Experience in managing and delivering patient programs
