Allied Health Assistant (Grade 2)
- Ongoing, Part Time Role – 36 Hours per Fortnight
- 18 hours per week (3 days) - Monday & Thursday (full days, not negotiable) + 3 hours Friday (negotiable)
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, dynamic and skilled Allied Health Assistant to join the Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology and Podiatry team at Peter Mac.
Working under the direction of qualified allied health professionals, you will play a vital role in supporting high-quality patient care across oncology settings. You will be required to perform duties of a general nature to support allied health screening, referral, assessment, treatment, education, research, quality and clinical programs. You will also assist in the running of clinical programs, specific to occupational therapy, exercise physiology and physiotherapy. In addition, the role includes operation tasks such equipment provision and consignment stock oversight.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver delegated patient care under the supervision of qualified allied health professionals.
• Support allied health programs, including patient education and group-based interventions.
• Assist with clinical and operational tasks such as equipment provision and stock management.
• Contribute to service quality, research and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to enhance patient outcomes.
The successful applicant will possess:
• Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance (or equivalent qualification).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated organisational and time management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in an acute hospital setting (desirable).

Essential Requirements
- Allied Health Assistant Certificate III or IV (or equivalent)
- First aid and basic life support (CPR)
- Driver’s Licence (valid in Victoria)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good level of interpersonal and conflict management skills and a proven ability to relate effectively with staff, patients and the general public
- Demonstrated organisational, time management, planning and priority setting skills in relation to own workload
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work independently
- Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development and education
- Good computer literacy
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within an acute hospital setting
- A demonstrated interest in cancer care
- Experience working with a variety of allied health professions
- Experience in managing and delivering patient programs
- Experience in managing equipment and administrative responsibilities
- Experience in quality work, research or data management
