• 1x Full Time – Ongoing, Full Time role - 80 Hours per Fortnight with Monthly ADO's
• 1x 9-months Fixed Term, Full Time role - 80 Hours per Fortnight with Monthly ADO's
About the team
The Molecular Pathology Laboratory in the Department of Pathology is looking for an experienced Administration Worker to join our small administration team which supports our molecular diagnostic services. The full-time position presents an exciting opportunity to gain invaluable experience in this rapidly growing field.
About the role
Suitable candidates will be highly motivated, self-driven and have the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Previous experience working in an accredited Diagnostic Molecular Pathology/Genetics laboratory and applicable understanding of medical terminology would be an advantage but is not required.
You'll bring with you:
• Demonstrable experience in MS Office products, Internet and Outlook
• Demonstrable experience in medical audio-typing
• Database experience
• Demonstrable abilities to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Professional approach to patient pathology service confidentiality
• Appropriate skills in communication

Position Summary
To support the Molecular Pathology Laboratory to provide the highest quality of molecular services to the patients of Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and its external clients through the provision of day to day administrative support to the department. Including but not limited to:
- Input and extract of data and providing basic information and reports, from a number of clerical systems.
- Analysing situations and information to ensure information is shared clearly and accurately. (Discretion is limited and bound by existing system procedures and protocols. Outcomes are monitored by a supervisor or audited by a work system).
- Ensuring system content is factual, involving standard and predictable transactions.
- Working collaboratively and cooperatively with others, sharing a variety of tasks contributing to achievement of work area outcomes
- Providing induction training for other employees at this level.
- Maintaining a good understanding of hospital systems.
- Understanding hospital procedures, information requirements and protocols in order to communicate and provide support to members of the public.
